So as you know I´ve studied a course in MUSIC and HEALTH for some weeks and in that course we´ve talked about music and its impact of our health and yesterday I found evidence of a theory we´ve read about. Not planned from my part but let me tell you what happened=)
I was in church a while ago and while I was in there lighting a candle there were a piano player and a saxophone player rehearsing and it was SO incredibly beautiful that I couldn't walk away. Sat there with tears in my eyes and felt the BEST feeling of FLOW in my body…
So I ran home, started to search for when these guys were gonna have a concert and to my luck I found out they had some concerts planned and one for a lunch concert. I checked the date, yesterday, and called my mum and asked if she wanted to join me and she did.
I was so excited, I had longed to get some nice music in my ears and to sit there with my dear mum and have a great time.
When we sat there in the church, a lady came and said: have you gotten todays programme? No, I said and she gave it to us. I read and am shocked cause the names on the performers are totally different! Its a pianist and a soprano singer that are performing! I say to mum I must have made a mistake on the dates and I check out internet and YES, the other lovely musicians played already LAST week!
Damn! I saw the programme was filled with opera arias and such and well, I truly DONT like opera and classical singing so much so if it was only me, I would had gone home beforehand but mum likes it so I stayed.
It started and after ONE song I had the worst headache, tensed jaws and I felt like I wanted to escape. And believe me, the soprano was really TECHNICALLY talented. If you like classical singers you would like it and she had a great technique of course but for me, all I heard was sounds that make me cringe and I just sat there and tried to focus on WHY it affects me so badly?
I mean, I am a musician myself, I love music, I am a so called ALL-EATER and accept most music. I can listen to Sarah Brightman, Katherine Jenkins and such for some songs but still this music
DOESN´T touch me at all. It make me feel sick instead…
And this is what we´ve studied. That for one person a song can move the person to wonderful soothing and comforting places, touch their heart so they start to cry BUT for another person the same song can make that person physically feel ill and get the total opposite effect.
And I am now the proof of the theory=)
I still have a headache and as I´ve always said- I do not like opera and classical singing. I am impressed by the singers technique BUT they do not MOVE me at all. They do not touch me and the high notes give me a headache
So no more concerts of this sort for me=)
Mum on the other hand liked it, hehe!
Love and light,
